TRAINING
This course varies from 4-6 hours of class room time plus a written exam which includes the completion of hand written Dangerous Goods Bills of Lading (Shipping Manifests)
The course can be tailored to meet additional corporate requirements if requested. This service will require additional time to coordinate and implement into the course.
Designed to educate a worker in requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act (TDGA) for the purposes of shipping, transporting, or recieving of dangerous goods. All classes of dangerous goods are reviewed, but the primary focus is on Class 1 Products, Explosives.
Within the TDGA regulations under part 6.1, Training Certificate Requirements are defined as:

A person who handles, offers for transport or transports dangerous goods must
be adequately trained and hold a training certificate in accordance with this Part; or
perform those activities in the presence and under the direct supervision of a person who is adequately trained and who holds a training certificate in accordance with this Part.

An employer must not direct or allow an employee to handle, offer for transport or transport dangerous goods unless the employee
is adequately trained and holds a training certificate in accordance with this Part; or
performs those activities in the presence and under the direct supervision of a person who is adequately trained and who holds a training certificate in accordance with this Part.
Under part 6.2 of the TDGA, Adequate Training is defined as:
A person is adequately trained if the person has a sound knowledge of all the topics listed in paragraphs (a) to (m) that relate directly to the person’s duties and to the dangerous goods the person is expected to handle, offer for transport or transport:
- Classification Criteria
- Shipping Names
Use of schedules 1,2 & 3 in the TDG Regulations
- Documentation
- Dangerous Goods Safety marks
- Means of Containment
- Emergency Response Assistance plans
- Report Requirements for Accidental Release & Imminent Accidental Release
- Safe handling, Transportation Practices, and Characteristics of Dangerous Goods
- Proper use of Equipment used to Handle & Transport Dangerous Goods
- Reasonable Emergency Measures to Reduce or Eliminate Danger to the Public
